Default New to me: 1986 944 Turbo

Hey guys.

I've been posting for years in the 996 forum but am happy to be moving over here.

I recently sold my 996. Not because I didn't like the car. I loved the car. I just felt like moving on.

Started getting the itch for a 951. I just couldn't lose the memory of that poster on my bedroom wall back in high school.

After some serious searching, I stumbled upon a 1986 951 with only 41k original miles and within a few hours drive. I made the trip earlier today and smiled ear-to-ear the entire drive back home.

It's a one-owner car and spent it's whole life in sunny and dry Texas. She's s strong runner and a very nice 10-footer but I plan on a 100% restoration over the next year. It should be a fun project and I'm sure I'll be relying on the collective knowledge of Rennlist (as usual).

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Great find. I've always loved the white 944s and the white fuchs just set it off. Please post pics during your restoration project, we'd love to see how it progresses.

Very nice car, do you plan to keep the restoration original or modded? Looks like a car that would be nice to keep original or maybe keep the upgrades factory. (i.e. Turbo S)

Thanks, guys.

I absolutely plan on restoring it to original. My goal is to have a showroom-new car when I'm done. I may do some slight improvements under the skin - maybe some light suspension improvements that cannot be seen - but I want the car to look 100% original.

I'll absolutely post photos as it progresses.

I like the white wheels, too. Lose the pin-stripe.

Welcome!

Wow! And it's white! I think 944's in white look so good. Love the wheels, nice score! I really want to know how on earth does someone find such a great example so close to where they live.

Congrats on the 951. A different animal than the 996 but you will learn to love the boost in these cars.
