Question 944 Instrument Cluster

Does anyone know if the instrument cluster from a right hand drive 944 will fit the left hand model?

I've got a spare one that is currently apart so I can get you the measurement when I get home in a few hours.

My cluster is entirely dark for running illumination. However, all gauges and idiot lights work.

I haven't dug into it, yet. Probably need a weekend day to do that.

I have seen full clusters for $100 on ebay. Wondering if just swapping the whole thing might be easier than tracing why the lights failed?

Poor lighting is probably due to aged reflectors for the main dash bulbs. Check this clark's link, much cheaper than a new cluster and not much more time than swapping the cluster out anyway

The parts needed to update your cluster to factory level illumination should be about $20. You'll need acetone free nail polish remover, some super glue, 3 replacement bulbs and some shiny aluminum air conditioning duct sealing tape. It's an easy job that's outlined in the link Cliffjumper referred to. I've done two clusters and it's a snap.

Thanks so much for those helpful posts @cliffjumper & @mytriplseven.

Perhaps that's all it is, with burnt out incandescents. I have LEDs ready to go, and I did the same in my Volvo XC70 last summer, so I understand the program. Disconnect negative prior to pulling cluster.

I will tackle it next weekend and report back.

The opening for the speedometer/tach is right at 3.5 inches or 90mm the actual gage face is slightly bigger but only by a mm or two
