Default Ok, Where's the Coilover Conversion Instructions?

I found quite a few threads, but none of the links are working and Clark's Garage doesn't have it listed.

TIA

Can you clarify what you mean by coilover conversion?

If you are referring to the front, it depends on what type of coilover kit you buy. If you buy the whole assembly, all you really have to do is just replace the old setup with the new setup. Or are you seeking the actual instructions on how to remove / install all this?

If you are referring to the rear, you just follow the steps on clarks-garage for removing the torsion bars, and then install the coilovers in place of the previous shocks.

it's ez.
take off the entire strut:
4 10mm bolts on top, camber bolt and securing bolt on bottom. 17mm and 19mm.

spring compressor so there's no load on the top hat. zip off the top nut with impact gun. release spring compressors. slip on the sleeve, put on the spring and the bump stop, put on the new top hat, thread top nut back on, zip it tight

reinstall strut back on car. do/get alignment.

No cutting of the existing spring bottom plate or welding?
Struts have the threaded top cap.

If I recall correctly, I had to cut mine and the sleeve slid over just stiff enough that I didn't worry about welding it. It has been 5 years though so my memory is a little vague. As of now it still sits in the same position, unturned.

oh...i have the early struts where the top unscrews off. if u have late struts, then u'll have to cut the top off yea.

for tightness, i had to wrap duct tape about 10 or 12 times around to build up the bore.

oh....either remove the tie rod end out of the strut, or remove the tie rod end out of the tie rod and keep it on the strut.

also assuming yer on orig struts.....and it's a good time to put in fresh inserts

Cutting only needed on the late sealed struts.

If you dont have to cut the struts you just need to undo the top stuff and you can angle it out. No need to undo the tie rod / lower strut mounts. That way you also dont need to get a new alignment. Look for Steve's (Kuhl951's) write up some where deep in the archives.
