Post Oil Temp Gauge/ Where to get the reading from?

I wish to install an oil temp gauge but am wondering where I would get this reading from?

ANy help out there. I plan on adding the oil temp gauge and the air fule mixture to my still not installed gauge pod... Need to know the above information and then where the best place to get the gauge from will be.

Thanks

According to the Parts and Tech Ref. Catalog, there should be an aux. hole in the oil pan opposite the oil drain plug. Looks like it is already threaded and ready to go....

A friend of mine had a custom sensor/thermocouple installed in the oil drain plug for his '86 951. This seems like a decent solution since it avoids the need to drill the oil pan (which I would be nervous about).

I mounted the sender in the drain plug, we drilled and tapped the plug to accept the sender. This tells me what the temp. in the pan is just before the oil goes to the coolers, stock and in series an Earl's out in front of the radiator. I would like to know what the oil temp coming back from the coolers is, but as long as the temp in the pan is O.K. I just trust that. BTW temps. read 250 at NHIS on 80f day at 16 lbs. boost, higher if the boost is higher.
