upgrading the suspention!!!
I broke down, the pressure was to great and am ordering the Koni Adjustable sports shocks for the front and the coil over kit to lower the ride height a bit. I am also ordering the Koni Rear sport adjustable for the back end. After installing the turbo sways both front and rear I cant get enough of the handling. I am becoming a serious corner junkie. Going with the 250lbs spring in front and going to lower the rear ride height as low as the eccentrics will allow. Anyone know if that will be enough from the stock height of an 87 n/a late year. Skip???
I believe the ride height in the rear is jacked all the way up by factory in order to meet the US bumper standard? Would someone verify this for me? I would hate to go and re-index the rear end right now, that’s a big job and I don’t have the time to cut and make/install the front struts then install the rear shocks and try to index the torsion bars in one day.
Thanks in advance

TaboII ,I did what you are doing last winter.The car is handling awsome!Turbo sways fr &rear Konis,but I wanted stock height,so I kept the spring stock,I might someday go with 200 lb srping,I wanter to avoid going to stiff as this is a daily driver.And I didnt want to be rattled to death!Also on lowering the rear with eccentrics will only give you a little lower, (less than 1/2 inch if I remeber )depending on the cars settings now,(the ride height is not usally jacked up ALL the way)so I chose to leave them and the front where they are.The gain in my opinion on my car was minimal.Just lower profile tires on it ,now I cant drive up my ramps!
I did my struts so if you need a hand or any questions let me know!

I took a ride in Tifosiman's car last weekend and he has the same setup you are looking at with the exception of 28mm torsion bars. You'll be very happy with this setup. It's a big improvement. Ride quality did not seem any worse than my stock setup and that car stuck like krazy glue on velcro. I'll be doing the same mods next year. We lowered the rear ride height on my car Sunday. Mine was at the factory (all the way up) setting and we were able to drop it a little over 3/4". I've noticed less squat on takeoffs and a lot less nosedive on braking. The car's stance looks much better too.

Sounds good to me,Ive got the 22mm offset wrench and the 7 mm allen wrench you ll need. I ll also bring some beer! (For after the job is done.)
If you have an autozone nearby they rent the spring compressor for free,they give you back the deposit when you return the stuff!

TaboII,
With 250lbs front sprigs and full interior my guess is you can lower the back using the spring plate to even out ride height. On my father's 86 951 we installed 250lbs springs and lowered the rear ride height just enough to keep the same front/rear ride height balance as stock. Everthng else is stock. He seems to like it alot and the car looks fine. On my 88 Turbo S I lowered the rear spring plate all the way down a few years ago with stock Turbo S springs. It was fine at first, but now as I have spent more time out at the track It seem to have an excesive amount of understeer. I think will raise the back to make the handling a bit more neutral.
It seems that you can influce over/understeer charateristics with the rear ride height.
Up = more oversteer
Down = more understeer.
(of course this is just one factor)
This why I suggest just keeping the factory rake after you add in the 250s. It should add just a touch of understeer due to the higher spring rate in the front.
IMHO The 951 is little need moreo understeer due to the power vs 944 NA. The NA's can use just bit more oversteer since there is less power on tap to get it around on corner exit. The turbos feel more stable with more understeer since its much easier to break the rear loose with power
Just my experince from 3 years of autocross & DE in my 951 and 944 na.
BTW You can raise the rear if you lower it too far the first time. And you will need to redo the rear camber with any spring plate change.
Camber is adjusted by the eccentric bolt that is also the sway bar mount.
If remember right down 1" adds about 1 deg neg camber.

My suspension is in need of an overhaul as well - the rear is very tired.
Im not looking to spend $3000 on a coil over, but could someone recommend a good setup for a second car/soon to be lightly used track car? Im not looking to break any track records, but I would like an improvement in cornering ability.
Thanks!

This is not going to be 3k upgrade, more like 550/600 this is the Paragon coil over conversion for my 87 sealed struts and a ride hight package along with the Koni adustible sport rear shocks nothing really big. I WISH I COULD GO WITH THE REAL DEAL. But I am only a working man.
