I am in the process of replacing my clutch on my 88 Turbo S. It appears I can replace it with the OEM stock Sachs or Turbo Cup Clutch.
From what I understand the "Cup" clutch has only one set of springs vs 2 sets. It does not have the set that typically break. Right now I am replacing mine since some of those springs are broken. At least I think so. I won't find out for sure till I break it open.
Anyway My car is 100% stock and will be street driven. It will not see track days or autocrosses. (I have a stripped out 944 na for that - 944 spec here we come!
)
It will see the occasional spirtied drive, but even that will be tame as I have learned my lesson about speed on the back roads (Its cheaper at the track! Don't Ask! <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" /> )
I was going to get cup clutch, but I saw some stuff about stiffer pedal. I really don't want a stiffer pedal feel. For what I will use the car for I would rather have a lighter feel and smooth engagement rather than high sticking power.
I do plan on keeping the car for another 100k!
So OEM Sachs or Turbo Cup
Opinions?
Thanks for the input

You're stuck - maybe. There's lots of Cup clutch owners out there - hopefully some will chime in with the spring weight difference. Honestly never heard a "complaint", just the statement that it is a bit stiffer. If you want the prolonged life of Cup clutch, maybe start hitting the weight room before drives
