Turns out, there's an '86 951 in Durham (ebay auction) that's in my price range for purchase but it's hard to get myself that far north just to check it out myself. I'm wondering if there's anyone who can lend a hand/personal observation of the car in question.

Also, can someone run a Carfax check on this VIN for me? It says only 6 records, which sounds good for a 16 y/o car.

I've seen the car. It is freshly rebuilt, OK paint but door jambs and engine bay are flat black. Interior is in pretty good condition, car is more or less restored. Peter does good engine work so that shouldn't be a problem. I think the wheels and tires are the originals from my 86 n/a, not sure though. I traded my 15's for 16's with Pete several months ago. Should be mechanically sound.

Cool.. I'm looking more for something in that price range (or less - eesh) that's more of a 'driver' than a garage queen.

Good to know someone here knows the car and engine builder (at least by reputation).

The auction ends in 6? days (I'll have to recheck that I guess) - and I'm waiting to hear back from the owner about contacting the engine builder and paint-shops anyway....

Hrm... maybe my car.
