Question Head Studs, Replace or Not?

I'm getting my head rebuilt and while its off I considered getting new head studs. The place I was buying parts from said for sure that I should replace them. The mechanic I went to today said that they are a huge pain to remove and the old ones should be fine. Does anyone have any good opinions on this? I'm not sure who to believe.

Help! I checked the archives and it seems like the original bolts should be alright for 1 or 2 more uses. This is the first time the head will ever be off the car as far as I know. It definately looks likes its never been off. I'm guessing the shop will check them out when the pull the head and let me know if they need to be replaced. Any thoughts?

You can reuse them 2 times. After that, you need to replace with OEM, or better yet, racewares.

Mine came out fine with a little work. Others have had huge problems getting them out. It's a crap shoot.

Anyway, put the head on, torque properly, and drive it.
