That's my setup (Escort Cup / torsion delete). No issues with the lower mount (althought the rubber bushing in the coilover has to be watched for failure). The Escort Cups are valved VERY firm. But they're very high quality stuff.

That was actually the first set-up I was looking at.

I did the install myself. Challenging, but I'm not a technical genius. I actually did it in two steps. First I did coilovers with the t-bars in, then about a year later, I took out the t-bars and upgraded the spring rate.

With all due respect I disagree. The ability to be able to easily gain a lot of Neg camber for the track makes a huge difference to how our cars handle, and yes you do want to be able to change back to a street setup when on the road. You're right in that you also need to change the toe but for a few bucks to get someone with a lift to do these changes which take about 15mins, it's highly worth it. I ran up to -4 deg front and this was not great for the street but if I didn't do this for the track it would be just as bad there.

Darwin, I wouldn't actually go for the KW adj top mounts. Something like the RE ones are probably cheaper and they're better. The adj mounts on my KWs could have been a little better but don't assume that the suspension is no good. It's great.

+1, thats my setup. Love it but its stiff...my higher sprung BMW rides like a camry compared to the 951 d/t the valving. My car does feel a lot more streetable on 17's than it does on 18's.

Just an idea: you could find a used set of escorts and have them revalved to the firehawk specs to make it a bit more street/track friendly.

What are your rear alignment specs?

Hi,

I'm running Koni Yellows with Weltmesiter 200 lbs springs and Weltmeister sways. When I was running 18 inch wheels I found it too rough for the street, but when I switched to 17 inch things got noticeably better.

For me (who admittedly worries more about ride comfort than handling) it would be hard to imagine going much stiffer for the street than what I have now, but a compromise for you might be to have a spare set of wheels with the smaller wheelss/taller sidewall reserved for street use and the more aggressive wheels and tires reserved for the track.

-2 neg with 0 toe, but I would have gone for a bit more on the rears if I could. However my car was very track oriented.

Hmm... I might sell my bilsteins... I've been thinking about upgrading.

Make me an offer... Fronts with 400 lb springs and perches; rears with solid bushings, 750 lb springs and perches. Rebuilt and revalved by Bilsten Motorsports about a year ago.

I'm only half serious... for the right offer I'll sell them, but I don't mind keeping them either.

I think I may be leaning towards a set of Moton clubsports. My 3 main choices right now look like either Leda, KW, or Moton. I've been consulting with a few shops and builders who all agree that for a car that sees track with some street time, either of these would probably fit the bill best (although a tad more expensive than I was initially looking for).

I'd go with the 993RS aluminium uprights before going to Motons. More bang for the buck.

Just my $0.02.

Yeah: better roll centre, stiffer/lighter upright, radial mount brakes, stronger hubs... not a simple mod though. Needs 964 hubs (same ABS teeth) and struts.

Mike, have you done that on your car? I haven't heard of that being done to a 944.

and you need 4+ degrees of negative camber with 630lb front springs? What front sway bar do you have? I'm thinking you have too much front roll stiffness as I remember seeing pictures of your car with the inside front wheel off the ground.
