Post oil in the intercooler pipe/intake

I am getting quite a bit of oil in the intercooler pipe(between intercooler and the intake manifold) The turbocharger is new.

Car is 100% track car.

Possible causes and fix ?

Thanks.

Can't say for sure. I've got the same issue with my 931. I'm guessing on mine it's the turbo blowing oil, which isn't all that bad as long as it's cooled properly (I use a turbo timer).

Know that puff of smoke you get when you engage the turbo? It might just be that you've got more oil in there than normal. But I wouldn't yet tear it down and rebuild - that oil smoke problem is pretty common on these cars. This just sounds like an extension of that same issue.

Eugene: sounds like you're close to hunting down your "hesitation under partial throttle" problem.
I wish I could help you, but I haven't seen any information that could help you. We 944S2 owners have difficulty even spelling "T-u-r-b-o!"

Hope you can find the culprit!
Thanks again for your instruction at The Glen!

i have yet to meet a 951 w/o oil in the intercooler pipes.

How much oil are we talking about here?
Are you getting smoke?
If you put a piece of cardboard behind the exhuast pipe do you get a lot of oil build up on it?

Odds are your turbo is letting a little oil go by, and if that is the case then it is not really much to worry about but does signal that you'll need a new turbo at some point (good reason for an upgrade).

Eugene I too have have a light oil film in my intercooler pipes. They are not filled or anything, but there is oil present. I have not had any problems and seem to making good power.
230 hp 243ft-lbs torque at the wheels for the last dyno run (stock Turbo S)

That was at 109k Now I have 116k,
I have had the car since 90k and have not noticed change in the oil intercooler pipe.

I do not know if this is real problem. I got word from a retired MB auto tech that thier Turbo Diesels would leak a little oil from the Turbo seals. This was not problem and he figured the same for this car.
Of Course this may not apply to 951.
Anybody else hear different?

I hope this helps some.

But Eugene has a new turbo: I think less than a season on it.
I rode with him at the track (Watkins Glen), and something's not right: when lifting at the end of the straights, the car would hesitate and feel like it was bucking. This was especially true in the morning when the car was still cold: as it got warmer, it seemed the car didn't hesitate as much.

I know this is a long shot: but could it be the clutch? I know with the n/a's if the rubber hub has deteriorated, there is a lot of drvieline backlash when lifting.

Can anyone help here? I'm sure Eugene would be more than happy to take you on some hot laps at Lime Rock or The Glen if you can help him out! Believe me: he's quick!

Thank you everyone. Sounds like it is not anything " serious "

Has anyone done a " catch " can for the crankcase breather tube ?

Eugene:
I think you were messing around with the BOV at The Glen.
There's a discussion going on about venting air via a BOV to the atmosphere instead. Maybe that's why you may be running rich. There's the thread:

The rich condition was not related to the BOV.

I also ran with the stock stuff back on the car
at the Glen.

Thanks.
