Post Konis for 951

Our local Porsche importer offers to PCF (p car club of Finland)The following Koni shocks:
Front M030 sport koni's 400 €/ea
Rear M030 sport koni's 170 €/ea

What bothers me is that "M030".I suppose i might run with difficulties if i install these (front ones) into my '88 non M030 951 ??!!.
I thought these yellow sports were not available any longer.?? This offer inclued the similar setup (non M030) for 944 na as well.
I suppose M030 sports cost more than "regular" sports??

Moro,

Have you tried with local Koni spare supplier?
They gave quite decent prices while I was there.

The M030 Konis are valved differently, and the fronts should be ride-height adjustable. If these are the same as I'm thinking, that seems a fair price to pay. Remember though, you'll have to get new springs and top perch to use those fronts, as they are not the same as non-M030 struts. Or, you can convert to the 2.5" springs at that time.

Check to be sure the rear are not the 968 M030 - if so, they will have helper springs installed - this may lead you need the Torsion Bars indexed for lower ride height, as the spring will raise the back end.

Good Luck!

Skip,
I have an 88 Turbo S and will be needing to get new Koni in the front one of these days. I have always been scarred off due to the price ($500 each is big hit.) They are not dead YET, but are getting closer everyday

I know that standard koni yellow only come in the insert form now. No more strut body. They are cheaper, but require cutting the strut body.

Does Koni still make full struts for the turbo S? Or are these only insert types also? Are there any plans on eliminating the full strut and just going to an insert?

If so I'd rather just buy the full struts now rather than wait and then have to hack them.

Thanks
M758

M758 (nice name),

While you can cut up the M030 units, we don't recommend it. They are becoming increasingly rare - instead, we offer a trade-in with substantial core refund off a set of custom valved, made double-ajustable, Konis for your application.

Koni no longer produces the full struts - just inserts and conversion/revalve/rebuilds.
