Post Having oil leak after recent head gasket from intake mani studs? Couple questions...

After having the head gasket, timing belt, and water pump done, I'm having mild bubbling from around the nuts which I assume secure the intake mani to the block...these are the large (maybe 17mm, haven't measured yet) nuts (4 of them) which sit right next to the spark plugs...at first I just figured the mech forgot to put thread sealant on the nuts, but then I got to thinking...why would oil be coming out here even if the nuts were sealed...could this be an issue with having not put sealant on the studs from the block, or the head, that this attaches to? My concern is that if there's oil coming out the top of the intake mani, if we just seal the nuts, won't the oil just be leaking into the intake manifold? Or could this just be turbo oil blowby finding a way out through these unsealed nuts?

All suggestions appreciated, I just want to make sure I don't get talked into getting a patch job done by the mech, rather than having him address the real problem if there is one.

Thanks,

After taking a quick look at cyl head removal procedure, it doesn't call for any thread sealant that I can find...however, it does call for oil to lube for reassembly...I'm hoping that after a day or two of driving this goes away and that it was just a case of reassembly oil...but dang if it didn't seem like a bit more oil than such a thing would create...anyhoo, if anyone has gone through this, I'm all ears, until I talk to my mech tomorrow, I'll just be checking back with paintful trepidation <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
