Post Chips with no boost bolt

I just bought my 951 in May and have been getting it back solid on maintenance items since ( belts, seals, sleeves, waterpump, fuel lines etc, refinished wheels, expecting some tires from Ian soon), and have just started a few mods. I bought some APE stg 2 chips from a classified, got the chips but the seller never sent me the boost bolt and doesn't respond to emails. Oh well. I've ordered an LBE but in the meantime, since I rarely drive the car, I went ahead and installed the chips. Performance gains with chips only are minimal at best! Exactly what functions do the chips modify? It feels maybe a bit snappier at no boost, but under boost seems a bit anemic. I'm sure the correct banjo bolt or LBE will rectify this, just curious as to what fuel and ignition functions are modified by the software alone.

I am surprised that you feel that you are running as well as before - with ape chips and the wrong boost signal, you should be very rich.

Chips alter the fuel and timing curves, raise the rev limit and remove the overbost protection. The restrictor jet restricts the pressure signal to the wasegate which allows the boost to be raised. The reason the car feels so anemic is.....you are too rich for the amount of boost you are running right now.Take care.

Thanks guys, that was exactly what I was looking for. The car is a bit more gargly at low rpm's and felt too rich. I knew performance would be hindered by the lack of the boost bolt, but we do things when time allows! I thought it may be a tedious job to crack open the Motronic units but it was a breeze, did the whole thing in about 45 minutes.
Tim, fuel lines were great...will be looking for exhaust very soon! Talk to you then.... <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

instead of using the banjo bolt just get one of the adjustable boost lines they sell at paragon or lindsey racing.
