I find the pedal spacing between brake and gas is too wide to heel-and-toe comfortably. Each person has his/her own technique, but I chose to widen the gas pedal with a 1/8-in.-thick aluminum plate that overhangs the gas pedal's edge by 1/2 in. to the left. It's attached with about 5 countersunk sheet-metal screws that thread right into the plastic pedal.

It's just easier for me this way. I can keep my foot more or less vertical, and rock it side to side for the blip.

Haven't had a chance to read all of the above opinions, but thought I'd chime in with what works for me. I have a rather small foot (size 10, but kind of narrow), so I bought a set of aluminum pedals for $45. I bolted the brake pedal on, but shifted it about 1/2 inch toward the throttle. I brake with the ball of my foot, and blip the throttle by rolling my foot. Works great. At first I had the aluminum throttle pedal installed, but the additional height caused me to apply the throttle slightly (w/o rolling my foot) under hard braking, which I didn't like. So off it came. May look funny with only aluminum pedals on the clutch and brake, but that's what works for me. The aftermarket pedals gave me the adjustement I needed for only $45. Of course if you go that route, get pedals that bolt on, not the wrap around rice crap.
