I came to this thread a little late. The velocity of the air moving through the intake, which is very short (not more than 18 in maybe) there isn’t time for the air to pick up very much temperature. The volume of air moving through the intake is going have a cooling effect on the intake (thus heat transfer) but if you look at the speed of air there’s not enough time to pick up much temp. Adding a couple of inches of insulation to the equation isn’t really going to make a noticeable difference (IMHO)

Quick update:

Presently trying to schedule an appointment with the dyno, however I cannot seem to find where I put the temp sensors I was going to use so I may have to go pick up 2 more. Hopefully I will get what I need and then can get to the dyno soon!

On a related note, there was some discussion in this thread regarding the placement of the injector and where it aims. It was noted that injectors aiming at the walls of the intake port are good for emissions, but for more power the injector should be aimed at the back of the intake valve.

From what I can tell and according to a crude test, the 944 injector in its stock location aims at basically the "corner" of the valve, where the valvehead meets the seat, but the valve stem is in the way. With the spacer installed under the manifold, the injector aim should be more towards the center of the valve.

Great - let us know what your results are... I'm still in for one, if proven.

I'm in as well.

I've seen what these things can do for the subaru guys. They work quite well actually; not a big power boost but it did help out torque a bit and increase gasmileage. While they do shift the helmholtz resonance a tiny bit, it's not enough to really make a big difference in the helmoholtz supercharging effect. Even if they do, all it's going to do is move the supercharging effect a tiny bit sooner in the powerband.

I still have the "prototype" sitting on a shelf...just never got around to dynoing it. Could make another one easily enough if you want one.

i'll give speedforce a call and see if i can use their dyno soon.

to the people that put up a few dollars to get this going so long ago, i'll offer refunds if you want. or, if the dyno proves worthwhile, the original idea of crediting you against the cost will still count, but for more

Looks like there may be some gains to be realized...maybe...this guy sells them for various Nissans and has dyno charts before/after.
