I am going to see this week a 89 2.7 944, my question is, how do i know is still got the original motor and the 2.7 head, what to lok for to know this is a 2.7 motor and not a 2.5 motor? Thanks in advance

 

It's rather easy. Just check the cylinder head:

If it is the original motor in there & the car is in good shape both mechanical & body I'll say go for it ,they migth not be as powerful as 944 s/ s2 or turbo but are cheaper to maintain plus are the best of the NA cars to start with.First thing is to get a PPI done by somebody you trust & has knowlege about 944,then make sure the maintance as been done on it -TB-BSB-WATER PUMP ect ect.you want recieps for parts & the work done (word are simply not good enougth)Also if you do decide to buy it get it check by a good body man & see if the car is straigth & wasn't in any accident, carfax are nice but sometime don't tell the thruth.My Buddy as had is 2.7 for the pass 9 years he drive it quiet a bite to & until now is very satisfy.
