Default Looking for a broken clock (LCD)

In going through a bunch of my dad's old electronic stuff, I found about a dozen LCD displays that look identical to the LCD display on the clock. The dimensions are identical and it looks like it may be the right one. I'm looking for a broken clock to try one out with. I'll even buy it. I'm hoping that these are the right ones but I don't want to tear apart a perfectly good clock to find out it's not.

Thanks

Find me a clock that works and have me buy it. It will instantly become a clock that doesn't work.

So what seem to break for you? the LCD or is there internals that fail on a regular basis? Seems like a pretty bulletproof set up (other than the LCD)?

I always get clocks where the numbers start flaking away until it's just one big rectangular light.

Interesting ... whenever I have looked into this I haven't been able to find an LCD of the right size.

If you succeed then please do post details of the display you used.

These LCDs are about 15 yrs old and have been in storage for quite some time. I'm hoping they fit. If they do fit my plan it to have my kid offer an service to repair these. In first look these are the proper size, the pin layout look about right.

I too had been trying to find a source without any luck, I was talking to my dad and he told me about the ones he has should work. They seem to be packaged well and there were a few that were damaged, but there's several hundred that are viable.

I will post the results, as soon as we know if they work.

Haven't found one that works yet. I've got about 20 more boxes to go through, so far no luck.
