Post ebay auction sniper

I am pretty pissed off and just need to vent my frustrations really quick. I spend the last week making sure i would have the money and shipping info together to buy this 951 from ebay. I bid $10,501 and I was the high bidder until 5 seconds from the auction end when somebody out bid me by the minimum bid increment of $100. I tried to raise my bid (my original bid was all i could spend but in the moment i decided whats another couple of hundred)but by the time i entered in the ammount the auction was over (i had like 3 seconds).

This ebay sniper software or whatever is f*cking bullsh*t, isnt there some kind of rule on ebay about it to keep things fair (there should be). I really need to complain to ebay about this not just because i lost the car but as a seller i have always hated it.

I'm done now.

wow snipers for cars even.. sheesh

honestly Dan, if you wanted to pay a few hundred more I'm sure you would have already set your bid that way - since Ebay will only show the min bid required when you put in a $ even if you put in more $ so I'm sure you wont really regret this later, right?

Besides, are you sure you want to buy a car in AZ that you've never seen? Keep lookin around here, theres tons of stuff poppin' up all the time.

oh.. and... I don't think sniper software is against Ebay rules... why should it be? Just put in a higher bid way before if its really what you're 'willing to pay' if not then I guess it's no loss. At least thats my convoluted reasoning

Well, that was one nice car too. . .

Regardless, I'd get in touch w/ Technodyne and explain what happened and that should the bidder even flinch on the deal, you have cash (or financing) ready and are willing to pay the final auction price. You'ld be surprised what happens when someone has to REALLY come up w/ 11K.

At 11K, that's an absolute steal for that car.

simon- your right i should have just been higher in the first place, but so should the auction winner. im just pissed off to lose in the last 5 seconds to a piece of software.

matt- i called the seller within a minute of the auction close and said i can have the money to them within a day if the winner turns out to be a non payer (which i have my fingers crossed for since he told me whoever won the car never called or e-mailed with a single question about the car)

I need boost and i need it NOW

I got sniped once, then I started using it myself. Esnipe.com. But you have to make your bid as high as you are willing to go or you can still get sniped. Ebay isn't wild about it, but there's not much they can do.

He could of also set up the bid and clicked it himself when the ten second mark came. I have done it before, just sink a stop watch with the auction time.

I'll admit I'm one of those snipers.
Next time try Proxy bidding, and that last minute attempt will automatically be out bid by your proxy.

Damn shame, it sure was a nice example of a 951.

Sorry to hear about that Dan, I know you were really excited about getting that car. Best of luck to you with finding a nice 951.

Sniping wins the auction. I don't mess with Ebay auctions and bidding back and forth, I just snipe [no software].

I use to hate sniping with passion. Mainly because I was on dialup. Then once I got broadband bidding is much faster. I've even got something with one second left. (No software) Because the thing is, you either snipe, or be sniped. I guess that's the "rules" of the game. It sucks...but how else can you have live auctions on the internet.

I don't understand why anyone would bother sniping by hand when they can just use esnipe.com and forget about it.
