Question New clutch, Now I need to adjust it

I had most of my drivetrain replaced a month or two ago. So I've got a new clutch in there now and it needs to be adjusted somehow.

When letting up on the peddle the clutch will engage in only the last two inches of travel. So the peddle is almost all the way up. Needless to say this makes it fairly hard to drive.

I've done some searching and asking around. Both say that there is a bolt and shaft of somesort that can be adjusted. From what I can see there is a bronze colored bolt/shaft that is right next to an acordian style rubber gasket on the firewall.

Now I don't need to adjust the height or anything like that. I just need to make the clutch start engaging sooner and from what I understand this should be pretty easy.

Thanks!

Yes, that pushrod connects to the master clutch cylinder. It's a threaded rod, with a locknut on it. Screw it to the desired length, and then tighten the locknut. I'm not sure which way, in or out, would make the clutch engage sooner. Also, I found that getting under there while my seat was out was easy, but with the seat it's pretty uncomfortable.

Thank you!

That did it. That also by design adjusts the height by the looks of it. But not by much. So now my clutch is the same height as my brake pedal and it engages as soon as it starts to come up. It's freaking perfect!

Thanks again!

Oh, I forgot to mention. There should be about 1mm of free play or so when you first engage the clutch. Otherwise you'll burn out your new clutch pretty fast.

Right. I think it may have that already, but I'll back it out just a bit to be safe.

Sheesh. If I were you, I'd go back to the place that installed the clutch and give the guy a black eye!! Oh...wait. Too late. Glad it worked.

So wait...the clutch is my car is gonna die on me within the next few thousand miles, judging by how far up the clutch engages (right near the top). I can make it engage down at the bottom again, like a new one? Obviously it wouldn't delay the inevitable clutch failure, but it would at least engage sooner and feel better/newer?
