Post Who sells metric bolts?

I'm looking for lower shock bolts that are stronger then the standard 8.8 class that came on our cars. Anyone have a good source? I've tried all of the local hardware and part stores.

Kevin:

Have you tried a motorcycle shop? There is probably a fastener supply shop in town that can get what you want. Metrics can be a real pain to track down. Fastenal can order whatever you want, but I am not sure if they are in Hilliard.

Try Jegs. They had a good selection the last time I was there.

Thanks guys, I didn't think about Jegs. I wonder if ARP makes what I'm looking for.

I wouldn't expect anything less out of that motor you built.

What are you looking for? I have a place down the street from my home that has gobs of metric grade 12 fasteners. Most are allen head, but I can get normal hex tops if needed. (I prefer the allen heads for smaller bolts)

I need a 14mx90m hex or allen head. It needs to have the fine 1.5 thread pattern and at least a 10.9 strength class. These are for the lower shock bolts in the rear. I'm upgrading to coil overs and removing the torsion bars. So I would be more comfortable with a little stronger bolt holding the weight of the car. You'd be the man if you could find it. I've looked every where.

I bought all of the new bolts for my trans rebuild from Mcmaster-Carr which is an industrial supply house. They have most things in all grades. They have a website, but it helps to have the catalog for part#'s

Ace Hardware and Lowe's have grade 8 hardware. Paragon Products has a kit containing a good assortment of the typically used nuts, bolts, and washers.

Whoops, just noticed that you said stronger than grade 8.

I'm pulling my hair out here. Everyone has a bolt on each side of what I need but not the actual size that I need. I found a place that will make the bolt for $95.

Did you consider the Racer's edge adapter? Pricey but specific for what you're doing.

I'll run down the street and see if they have what you need.

Yes I have considered that. The problem there being that those are a 1/2" adapters and the hole is 14mm. I may just have TrueChoice put a 1/2" bearing back in the shock and go the adapter route. True Choice is also talking about building me an adapter.

No dice on the bolts. The biggest they had in 1.5 thread was a M14X60.

Looks like mail order is in your future. Good luck. BTW... step it up to grade 12. Better safe than sorry.
