i drove 105 mph on the maine turnpike in an my old audi quattro during a heavy snowfall... technically blizzard condtions at about 3 am running narrow snow tires in a bit of a hurry to pick up miss maine and bring her to get some colorado quality powder... this is a true story. it was december 1989. i tried three times to get it up over 100 mph but failed having to test the antilock braking system to avoid hitting the backs of 2 semi-remoliques, but on the third attempt i was successful. the road has only slight bends there just after stepping over nh/me state line... there was about 6 inches of snow on the tarmac... really coming down and lending traction... kind of stupid. off topic... here's grant baker snowboarding a nice half pipe yesterday, north baja california... i'm stuck for the moment here in massachusetts dreaming of being there.
