You can put it on dry, no sealant needed. If you do want to use something for piece of mind though, use aircraft permatex (comes in a small white bottle). It goes on thin like water instead of a thick rtv, and seals better.

Permatex Ultra-Grey and Ultra-Blue is what we've been using on our race cars with great results. The Ultra-Grey is more commonly known as Hondabond. It's a good adhesive and generally wont leave little silicon "snakes" inside of things like the Black or especially Red Permatex does. It also works well for sealing a number of common 944 oil leaks from the outside, and putting life back into 25 year old oil pan gaskets.
