Post NE dyno day

Just curious if there's any interest to do another dyno day...figure we'd do it at the same place..Deman Motorsport in Nyack, NY.

I'd like to see what my a/f curve looks like as well as what kind of power the car is laying down...Will have the adjustable fuel pressure regulator by then so I'll be able to do a little tuning.

Let me know...

Maybe, I'm trying to decide what to do next, exhaust or suspension, if I do the exhaust I'd be into it. I think my rear shocks need replacing, and that would do more for me at the next few autocrosses than the 2-3 hp I might gain from a catback and hi-flow cat.
It is tempting to see what the MSD did for me...

Adrial,

You will also have a "Test Pipe" to check out on the dyno.

BEFORE AND AFTER TESTS

I had never even begun to think about that...thanks David!! (floyd of course, not you dave )

If I can get Deman to approve/help me install it...its going down...finally...a before and after test of a test pipe...we will get to find out if it does anything!!!

I'm so excited

Will have to take intercooler/ambient air readings..and take into account (adjust the MBC)the increase in boost that installing the test pipe will result in...hmm..

Will installing the test pipe yield more boost? In theory I wouldn't think so...but in practice thats what I hear...

So Dave, taking the I-1 autox plunge? Think you've got what it takes to beat Gilbert and Al P? Don't do it!!!!
Refresh your suspension and stay is S-3! You'll be able to get arond Jim Roca then! hehe...

Adrial: something's fishy here: you said you couldn't make a DE this year due to low funds (something about a radar detector?!) and now you're putting more performance mods on the car? Improve the driver, and not the car! Sign up for The Glen in October: you won't be dissapointed.

Oh yeah, I probably won't make the dyno day, with no performance mods in sight for my car (spent too much $$ on DE's...hehe...) I'd just be disappointed seeing N/A's with higher torque curves than me!

Zoltan...with exhaust Dave would still be in S-3.

As for me...by the time I decided to return the radar detector it was too late...oh well.

As for the car, I want it to be running 100% correctly before I go flogging it for 30 mins or an hour straight at a DE...I don't think the car would hold up right now. Once I move to standalone engine managment...everything should be good.

Only reason I got the test pipe was that it was a good price IMHO...I wouldn't have bought it new for $250 or so.

I'll see you at the first lime rock event next year, Zoltan.

You can still come to the dyno day just to hang out...don't be anti-social. :-p

Are there any weekends in the next few weeks where you guys just can't make it? (aside from september 7th and 8th, the big 2 day autox event where my tires will die a short, but sweet death).

Adrial: It's all good: just busting your chops...
Glad to hear you're already psyched for Lime Rock I in 2003!
Sept. 13-14 & Sept. 21-22 is no good for DE people (Lime Rock and Pocono events).
Hopefully I can come by to see the action.

Later,
-Z.

I'd be in, again, as long as I don't have a conflict.

Damian, did you ever figure out why your results were so low? Dave, if you end up going (and Damian does too)...bring your g-tech...I'll bring mine too...we can do some runs in Damian's car and see if the G-tech produces similar results.

I'll give Deman a call on monday, too late now I think...I hope they'll work with me to get the car dyno'ed before/after the test pipe.

Anybody else in the area wanna get your car dyno'ed?

The dyno that will be used is a dynapack.

Adrial, it seems they used incorrect 'ratio' and/or gain numbers. Someone else had their 968 tested at Deman, and got identical results as me. A poster on 968.net had his done on an identical dyno (he posted the graphs) and those readings seemed proper, using a different ratio and gain. I'll have Deman use those numbers and we'll see what's what. Supposedly there is an error in the Porsche PET data for the 968's, which is where Rick got those numbers.
