Default Bad fuel = ruff idle? Octane?

This weekend my car was experiencing a pretty ruff idle...not horrible but vibrating pretty bad at stop lights. It was enough for me to look into ordering wires/cap/rotor. I added some RedLine fuel additive and it's now purring smoothly and running great.

I bought this stuff a few months ago and swore I noticed a difference...but thought it might be a placebo effect. My car ran better 10 minutes after adding it...and solved the problem.

Would bad fuel cause this situation? Would using a higher octane fuel increase performance?

Thanks,

BO

do you have an 8v or 16v car.

regular 8v NA wants 87 to run fine. an 88 NA or any model "S" needs higher octane for full power.
