Which models had heated seats?
Just curious, a friend was saying that he heard that most 944's had heated seats. Is this true, and is it only on certain models, or was it like a factory option.

It definitely was a factory option but in my limited experience, rarely ordered. I've yet to come across a set of heated seats first hand although I've seen pics of other 944's that have had them.

They are nice. Basically a switch to turn them on and off, and then a wheel to control temperature. They are no joke, they warm your...they get you warmed up REAL QUICK. Ive only used the heat two or three times, and i can only have mine on for a few minutes before im getting too warm. Even on the lower setting. Always nice to have, but not really needed.

Electric seat adjustment and heated seats were both introduced as options in the 85.5 interior update. Don't know how common they are. My sport seats aren't heated.

I'm pretty sure that you'll find it mostly on cars that were special-ordered by an individual, as opposed to ones that were ordered by a dealer for stock.
Jim, with bun-warmers in the Subie... veeerry nice!

Pretty rare option in my experience. My old '89 NA had a bunch of options, including a heated drivers seat. Neither my current Turbo nor S2 do though. My father has a loaded 968 and 928, they don't have them either. Go figure.
The heated seat was very nice. I would use it all the time.

www.rostra.com , a really great retrofit kit, universal, easily installed if you need 'em. $130
I had them in a 240 and they would heat up before you were out of the driveway (seriously)

Option Codes:
M139 Seat heater left seat
M340 Seat heater right seat

Then there is the switch (two settings), the delay (timer) relay that it controls and all the wiring, connectors and, oh yes, grounds.
I would unplug the wiring harness to one of the seats and see if you get power when the switch is turned on. If not, check fuse, power to switch and power to relay. Troubleshoot as per standard PEG*.

Why do the British drink warm beer? Because Lucas also makes refrigerators.

I wish I had 'em.
My p-car is a all year driver, and we do have snow and ice and butt cold air
(and polar bears.. )
So it definatelly would be a great thing to have;
but I'll manage

My 968 coupe has them, and my 85.5 944 had them (full leather power sport seats, must've cost a fortune). My new 968 cab has sport seats, but no heat. I think I'll try that link posted above.
