Question S2's Design 90 wheels to 951S ?

Hi.
Will D-90 wheels ( 7½" wide, 16") fit to
my 951S front, because of the larger brakes
(from 928 s4) ?

I know, that the original wheel for 951 S was
Club Sport 7½ " 16" , but what's the deal with
d-90 's?

The offsets on the 951S Club Sports for the front are 65mm vs. the 55mm offset on the D-90's. You may have a clearance issue.

However, IIRC, both of these wheels are only 7inches, not 7.5, at least on US-spec cars.

IIRC, D 90's 7" and up will fit over the S4 brakes. Problems arise when trying to put 6" D90's on.

The uber rare 944 S2 M030 and 928 GT wheels are 7.5" and 9" x 16, even in the US I believe the offsets were 65mm in the front too. The optional 17" wheels on 968's were 7.5" wide with 65ET.

Thanks, that helped a lot;
thought the guy, who's selling those D-90 said,
that the front wheels are 7,5 "

So I'm not sure.

Anyone ever tried?

Are the D-90's cast or forged?

Cast. Original 951S club sport wheels are forged.

My understanding is that the Turbo-S/M030 D90 wheels were forged, while the standard D90 is cast. I was under the impression that the offset was the same (52/53 mm) because it was required by the ABS to keep the roter in the tire center. Since I have a set of each, will measure the Turbo-S offset tonight to be sure. --Roy--

Roy, you are correct in that the 951S cars had forged wheels on the U.S. market. That is, until MY 1989. The RoW 951S cars built in 1990 and 1991, my turbo cab included, were fitted with M030 cast Design 90 16" wheels. The fronts are 7.5" and the rears are 9".

front rims 7*16 65 mm offset
rear 9*16 60 mm offset

and she was delivered with Club Sport wheels
(which unfortunatelly I don't have;
thats the reason I'm interested in D-90's..)

But never the less it seems, that they will fit.
We will know for sure, if you Roy will measure them

The wheels were sold to me as "1989 951S Forged Wheels" by a rennlister who was upgrading his race car. Haven't got around to putting them on so they were easy to check out. I started to measured a front wheel and then looked a little closer. The offset was marked on the back side of the wheel. 7J16, ET65 (THE OFFSET), ASI0162, 032600. The rear: 9J16, ET60, ASI062, 032598.... wonder what the other numbers are for ?? The outside has a small decorative grove at the outside of each spoke, I think only is on the forged wheels. Looks like the M030 option changes the offset. The offset for my 89 is 52.3 front and back. Wonder if these wheels will work on my 89 S2 with ABS and without the M030 suspension ??? I also uploaded a picture so you could check out the grove... the pic might be a little large (John D. how about a size hint for posting, on that upload page).

The picture of wheels Roy have are not the ones Tommy is looking for.Roy's wheels are forged Club Sports which are different than cast D-90's wheels.Not sure if the offset is same in these wheels.

The wheels I'm talking about, The Design 90's
can be seen <a href="http://www.wheelenhancement.com/Design.htm" target="_blank">http://www.wheelenhancement.com/Design.htm</a>
came standard with S2

and the wheels, that Roy is talkin' about are Club Sport <a href="http://www.wheelenhancement.com/clubsport.htm" target="_blank">http://www.wheelenhancement.com/clubsport.htm</a> and came standard with 951S

There is a slite difference <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

BTW Olli, the "discs" , we talked about yesterday,are these right?!
