CONE AIR FILTERS - worth it/better sounding?:)
Hey guys,
I am going to change my air filter now, lol
I am wondering what the "sound" difference is by going to a cone air filter. I have heard it described as "intense".
Does it make it sound more like an "jet taking off" or????
Thanks

it gives it a growly whoosh sound at WOT. just take off the top of your air box and u will see. seems like we've talked about this a lot lately...I think I'm gonna do a cone that resides in my NA's nose panel areaw/ a vented nose. do a search too, you'll find a lot of info.

I too am wondering about this...
Assuming the same intake air temperatures, on a 300hp/320 lb/ft tq car, how much hp and torque (if any) will a K&N cone add???
As far as sound, I had one on my car that I removed...the only thing I noticed was a cool little woosh...but it was positioned behind the intercooler/radiator so I sold it...

Hey guys,
This is the cone air filter I am thinking about below. I have heard lots of talk about not wanting hot air, so was wondering if this one took care of that problem or not??
Thanks

Yes it gives a growly sound at WOT, like a a 4 barrel carb, but ONLY at maximum throttle....I haven't "felt" any performance gains though they may exist. It would be marginal at best. Fuel economy may be slightly improved too, I haven't checked that either. Not a bad thing to add, but don't expect seat of the pants results.

I dont think that takes care of the hot air being sucked in unless that is a small refrigeration unit on that intake adapter. In order to have cooler air coming into your engine the intake needs to be outside of the engine compartment. Like the porsche engineers designed your car to be from the factory is a good example of cool air intake. I am sure they weighed the benefits of Whoosh over cool air intake and the results are evident.
