Question 996 steering wheel on a 944???

I was wondering, could i put the gorgeous 3-spoke airbag wheel from a current 996 or Boxster S on a 944 with airbags? Would it retrofit, or need modification? What would this involve?

Thumbs down

I remember someone asked this before,
and it will not fit

It would give at least 3 hp, if it would fit..

I'm trying to get someone to work on a solution. The spline is different but the airbag system is the same. Someone needs to make an hub adapter.

Why don't you buy the 996 wheel and bring it and a 944/928 wheel to a shop where they can make an adapter?

Shouldn't be much of a challenge as long as they have the proper tools.

do we have any estimates on price on a hub adapter? I know the wheel wont come cheap, and if a hub adapter mod doesnt either...i think i may stick with my stock wheel. Looks great anyways.

I already bought a Boxster S wheel. I sent it back when it did not fit. I'll buy another when the adapter becomes available. I have a couple of 993 steering wheels lying around if anyone wants to send my a 944 S2 airbag wheel we'll be all set. heh heh

how much was the Boxster S wheel, and from where did you purchase? Was it the three spoke with the crest in the center?
