I know there are a few people who have done this. There is a company called Renegade Hybrids that sells kits for doing the conversion.

The LT-1 conversion added 120 lbs to the overall weight of my car (most of it is behind the front axle centerline). I could put you behind the wheel and you would never know this is a conversion car! Except, of course, I have 2.5 X the hp. My car is a professional conversion, not some back yard hatchet job. It is very stealth. If I can figure how, I'll post some pics.

Alot of people around here blab about ruining, bastardizing, will only go straight etc....on this subject. The fact is these people DONT HAVE A CLUE what their talking about! I posted three track videos of a V8 944 running with a Ferrari Modena and two other HIGH dollar P cars. Fact is the V8 944, when properly setup can hang with a car costing 10 times as much $$$. But the post fell very quickly because these same V8 Bashers cant stand to admit the truth. How many street legal 944 or 951 would be able to hang with that Ferarri??

When we converted the car, we also changed the trans from the 944na to an '88 turbo 5-speed. Other conversions have retained the original trans, however the ratios of the turbo are better suited for the V-8. The original trans will live with a stock 300 hp LT-1 as long as you don't abuse it. I have a hyperteck module on my car and the rev-limited is set at 5900 rpm. The car was converted at Black Forrest Racing. It still has all the original options, ie A/C, PS etc. I was at the shop during the conversion and was personally involved. It was a great experience. After returning to Tennessee, I added the hyperteck module, the BBK 52mm throtle body, Racing Dynamics strut brace, and alot of other stuff. I went to school on the hill (class of 69), and live in Nashville. I assume you're in the military? Served 7 yrs in the USN myself.

I have a complete pictorial on this car from start to finish... but I'm a total idiot with computers (lucky to get the on/off switch in the on position). If someone will tutor me on posting pics, I'll be glad to do so. Also have some great videos.

I want more info, too. Predator, it sounds like you did it right. Personally, these types of swaps don't bother me - 944s are wonderful but they aren't rare by any means. An N/A 944 with a blown motor is almost worthless, considering the expense needed to replace the Porsche mill. So why not have some fun with it? We're not talking about E-Type Jags here.

How are the brakes in that thing?

Phantom 309 No problem with these brakes. They are stock sizes with drilled rotors and good pads. We did have to sacrifice the booster, and I originaly thought this might be a problem, but was OK. Requires a very little increase in pedal pressure. One of our next projects is to engineer a bracket to mount the red calipers on to the early spindles. The car is so-o-o fun to drive. It is quite very powerful, and stealthy. 0-100 in about 9.5 secs. I sure surprise a lot of drivers. Exhaust is plumbed to a single Flowmaster 4 chamber and oval tip. From the outside, you can't tell the car is a conversion!

Oooooh That hurts so bad!!!!!
Actually your reply is pretty funny.....WHO WOULDNT TAKE THE FERRARI!!!
But the fact is you nor I or 99% of anyone else on this forum will EVER own a $180,000 Ferarri. (And even if they did they probably wouldnt flog it around a track at 160mph risking wreck or mechanical failure, you think rebuilding a Porsche engine is expensive!!!!!)
