So the car ran for the first time today! It's full of glitches as expected. I drove it around the neighborhood and scared small children. Tomorrow it goes to get aligned and inspected!

I have a '91 S2 and live in Pflugerville. I think periodic get-togethers might be a neat thing to do.

Hey pretty cool buddy. Im in Pflugerville as well! I hope those weren't your children I terrorized....lol

Thought Id elaborate on Frankenporsche's adventure to get aligned. I have a lifetime warranty thing setup at Firestone (poor bastards) so thats where she goes every time. This time she ran great until out of sight of the house and then proceded to develop a massive leak in the fuel pressure regulator. She barely made it to the firestone. That was just the beginning. The fools, as usual- can't really figure out how to align a car. So I go out and stand under with them stepping them through, loaning them my special alignment tool etc etc....

Then comes the test drive. By this time the mechanic has slipped the wrench many times on Frankenporsche's bolts so she's pissed. The first hint of her PMS was the refusal to start due to flooded intake and leaking pressure regulator. The mechanic gets out. Being the ladies man I am, I know how a girl likes to be touched, and instantly she blew the fuel out kicked over and started running ok. The mechanic re-enters.

He gets out of sight. Cleverly, she sheds one of the ball-tipped bolts on the shift linkage on the access road of I35, giving him only 3rd and 4th gear and a poor running overly rich motor. I could sense trouble on her return.
The mechanic gets out flustered and responds "your car runs badly you know this?"
"Yes," I reply, "the fuel pressure regulator went on the way over."
"You only have 2 gears?" "No, there's 5," I reply.
"I only got first and second once. For the other 3 times I had to start in 3rd."
Then he says "I don't understand it. Its still pulling hard right, but the alignment numbers are perfect."

He spends the next two hours hunting with me while FrankenPorsche wittily hid her problem. He gives up and I go on my merry way with a 3rd gear only bad running motor. We get out of sight of the firestone and I scold her verbally. A hard tug down and over and she falls from 3rd to second. I hear something pop. I push foward and first is back. Then I toss her around a bit to check out this new alignment. Its pulling right. I scold her again and jerk the steering wheel left to right HARD a few times. I hear another pop. A coil spring unbinds and FrankenPorsche tracks magically straight. I drove back and informed the mechanic - she just needs a driver who won't take her ****.

I may have changed the engine and literally everything else in this car but you apparently can't change her soul. She still likes to bitch, much akin to my girlfriend.

Great to see that more interest has generated! Still waiting for five more to come forth. Once done, we could start pooling ideas for some sort of gathering(s).

I had a nice drive to Fair Oaks Ranch Monday afternoon, via Dripping Springs and Blanco. The brisk experience was enhanced by the narrow two-lane blacktops, making the entire drive like a toboggan run. During my return, however, I had to take it easy because of all the deer.

And what kind of pavement are they using on these roads in the hill country? It sounded and felt like driving on gravel.

Sound like you were driving on a recently repaved road. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for the pavement to compact.

Spring is a great season for spirited driving, right in between the summer heat and winter chill. Ideas, anyone?

I'm in. My 951 is off the road for a few months but I'm sure I could scrape up something fun to drive.

I have a Red 1987 944 N/A. Still tinckering with it but it's now my wife's daily driver. I'm gonna need another one for me. I'm not sure how that worked out.

I could be in on this. My 951 needs a little refreshing, new tires, and to pass inspection; and the other one I'd have to drag there on a trailer.
