So I've got a used motor coming, hoping that might be it. I think the relay is #9. Maybe.
is the sticker on the underside of the fuse box cover missing on your car? pop it off and look where the spare fuses are, there should be a map for the box there. If not i can take a pic of my S2 when i get home, i was digging on google and couldn't find one to post for you.

Fwiw I was messing with relay G9 the other day and even with it pulled I could still actuate the wipers, they just wouldn't return to the "Home" position.

Yes, G9 is the only one that seems close "wiper relay" I think it says. Not at the car.

So this sounds like a stalk problem you think?

UPDATE: Installed new/used motor and all is working now. I didn't crack open the used one and do a cleaning like I probably should have, but it was factory sealed and fingers crossed it's not a rust bucket inside
