Question WTB: 8v NA Head

EDIT:

OK scratch the engine idea, how about a good used head?

____________________________________________________________
I'm starting to think it would be cheaper and faster to just put another engine in my 86 with the broken timing belt. Then I can repair the old one at my leisure.

Anyone selling a good condition NA engine? Preferably not too far away, I was looking into jwade944's engine he's selling, but shipping from TN was over 400 bucks.

And naturally, the cheaper the better

Thanks!

if you have an 8v NA you could probably just change heads and be good to go. on all the engines ive seen that have blown belts the valves might be wonky but the pistons are perfectly fine.

and it's def easier to pull the head and swap in some valves than to swap an engine.

But where will my pressure plate come from then?

Honestly, just find a good used head, it's much easier than a complete engine swap.

I have used heads for $100 or rebuilt for $350. Shoot me an email at APartAbove@aol.com.

I have a nice 85.5 head and cam tower plus cam and followers. They only had only 53k miles on them when I pulled the motor for my V8 swap.....200 bucks for all....

Wow thats pretty. Is there a good chance that I will need the cam? I wasnt aware that it was in danger of being damaged too.

Well its hard to beat that price. Is it hard to assemble the valves, springs and what not?

Cams usually don't get damaged when heads do.

Assembling the valves is easy if you have a really strong valve spring compressor. It has to be the type that loops around the entire head. The craftsman one from Sears won't cut it - it'll just bend. I use my boss' tool which is made in Germany.

I have a rebuilt and machined 951 head with 944 valves but I want more than $50. Make sure to factor in the cost of possible machining, new guides, seals, seats, etc.
