I gather the standard coolant to use for 944s is the VW/Audi pink pentosin stuff. Looking around it seems that nobody sells this any more. Instead they sell the VW/Audi pentosin purple stuff.
Some claim its exactly the same - anyone tried it?

The current Audi / VW coolant is GL-12... (Purple)
The standard for Porsche (at least on our cars) is GL-6, older formulation.. (Pink)
Either one will work, GL-12 is formulated to protect the latest alloys being used, but is still safe for our cars.. I rather just order GL-6 from on-line (paragon, pelican, etc) as it is cheaper... but that is just me, my Audi dealer charges $36 a gallon for the GL-12, and I have ordered my GL-6 for around $24...
Our cars hold just under 2 gallons total (1 gallon of coolant with 1 gallon distilled water) ... get a second gallon of water as it will not hurt to go below 50/50 mix... just in case you are 100% empty and dry (I don't drain the coolant jackets when I change coolant, but I do a full flush to get all the old coolant out...hence the just below 2 gallons needed, completely empty and dry is roughly 2.1 gallons)
