Post Anyone Else Being Stiffed by Anderson Motorworks? Speak up now!

I was one of the introductory group of people that was supposed to get a cat-back for $600.

I have been calling, emailing, and posting on Rennlist for over a month, and no reply from Anderson. He charged my credit card in January and now he stopped responding to me. I hate to do this publically, but I'll be damned if I'm going to be ripped off for $600 by another Rennlist member - especially one that gets such great reviews here. I am getting sick to death of the 'California attitude' with taking money and not shipping, and now its costing me money. When did it become all right to lie to the people paying your bills?

I am a business owner too, although mine is quite a bit larger. I understand delays from suppliers. But lying to clients is something that I would never stoop to. I always take the responsibility when I make a mistake. That's what a good business man does.

I have handled this situation as politely as I can. I have been as patient as anyone could be, but this is bad customer service and its illegal . My next move is to notify my credit card company, the Better Business Bureau, and the State of California - all at once. I've seen you California lawyers post that charging a credit card without shipping the goods is illegal. The buck stops with me .

Anyone else that is being stiffed, email me, and I'll submit everyones's complaint for them . This crap has been addressed time and time again on this forum, and now something is going to be done.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT IN STOCK, DON'T F*****G TAKE OUR MONEY!

I had a similar problem with Huntley Racing a couple years back. They wasted no time taking money off my credit card, but literally took months to deliver items that they originally told me were in stock!! In the end, I got what I paid for, but it was a bit of a painful process. I can somewhat understand these guys demanding a deposit up front. These are very small businesses, and a lot of the stuff they make has to be fabricated. But before they take ANY money, they need to be up front and admit that the parts are not in stock and will require days/weeks/months to either order or fabricate.

$600 is a big sum of money, i wouldn't have waited this long

If I had been the first person that had to go through this crap with John (or any of the California 'tuners'), I would not have posted this here. I am far from the first, and doubt I will be the last. I am just sick and tired of being told that 'its been shipped', when I know damn well it hasn't. Its illegal to do this, its an insult to our collective intelligence, and its just plain wrong. Why do we keep letting it happen over and over? I have stood up for John and the others time and time again, only to be consistantly disappointed.

I am honestly a 'nice guy' and try to stay out of the conflicts on this site. But damnit, I'm tired of getting lied to and screwed over. You should be too. I have approached this situation privately with John in a kind and friendly way. This has been met with lies, and now silence on his part. Now its time to act.

I don't think I'll have any problem getting my money back when the District Attorney's office calls John to figure out why this is happening. I may be putting the 'mark of death' on myself with these 'tuners', but I really don't care. There are other places to buy parts. I am pissed and I am going to take care of this the way it should have been from the beginning. If I can keep this from happening to other people, I've done my job.

Your customers are your lifeblood in the business world. If you screw with them long enough, someone is going to make an example out of you. I'm that guy.

Email me with your stories about being charged and waiting for months to get a product. I will be sure that it is included in my official complaint.

Have a nice day.

Anderson ripped me off many years ago, to the tune of 50 dollars..Its not alot, but hey its money and I will not live it down. Until he mans up repays me the money I sent to him I will not forget it.

50 dollars when you are a freshman at college is alot! thats beer/951 money!

Now I am 5 weeks away from graduating with a job lined up, money will be flowing to the 951. he will not see a dime. (He will never see a dime from me, but I would like an apology)

end of rant...

John, I really need my flywheel sensors back from you. I left them on the bell housing when I dropped off my motor and when I was picking it up it looked so good I forgot to check, but you did leave the mounting piece that holds the sensors in place under the intake manifold, just no sensors or the pieces that hold them in place with the piece that I have. I know your a busy guy, but I have a motor sitting and a couple of sensors sent to me will give me the green light. Please reply,...thanks John, Gabe

Yes, me too ! I've only got less than 2 weeks until the OTC, I need my engine please. I've already missed 5 pre-registered track events to break in and tune the engine... this is getting expensive.

So I was all set to respond to this, but now, there's this fedex 'attempted delivery' thing on my door. Girlfriend said they didn't even ring the doorbell, bah. AND the tracking number the guy wrote down comes up as invalid when I go to the fedex site. So it COULD be the catback, but I have no way of knowing. Even if it is, it's been nearly 2 months, and the last communication I had with John said to email him with a status update, which I did. It's now two weeks later and no response. I'll be pretty glad if this is actually the merchandise...

Micheal,

you quoted posts from Danno and Gabe who are two of Anderson Motorworks customers. Not to mentions customers which Anderson Motorworks has good relations with. Before you site other peoples posts, make sure they fully aggree with your reasoning and standpoint on the subject. You can sling someones name around as much as you want, but the truth will be revealed within time.

If you recall Ian's post towards Tony Garcia. Ian came out as a gentleman and never tried to slander or belittle Tony. Tony did that for himself. Just keep your calm and cool about the situation and try to make sure you take every step before you ruin someones credibility and business. The boards compassion towards Ian was much higher than the numerous people who come her ranting and raving about their negative business transaction. Keeping cool and level headed about the whole deal is the best route.

Good luck,
SHAUN

From what I understand John arranged the deal with his supplier who was supposed to build the systems and ship them out the following week. Yes, back when you paid for the system. Unfortunately, as far as I know, the fault is not in John's hands unless of course you blame him for not having the product in stock at the time you ordered. In any case it IS his responsibility, but this is different in the sense that the supplier was supposed to ship them directly to the customers when they were paid rather than John getting them and shipping them out.

Maybe you understand, maybe you don't, and perhaps you're so pissed that you will never do business again. I can understand where you're coming from either way but I figured the explanation would help quench your frustrations.

As an aside [or parallel...or something], John indeed has been incredibly busy and right now is the only wrench working at the shop. I speak to him on the phone sometimes and he's always multitasking to get things done. Sometimes I don't hear from him for a while and he told me that the past several weeks were going to be absolutely hectic. So yeah, that's the deal...he's taking on a ton of things at once [which is why I asked if he'd want me to hang around his shop for a few days to catch up on inquiries, contacting people, etc] but he's definitely trying his best.

Again, this is all accurate to the best of my knowledge.

I remember that John did mention that the supplier would be drop shipping direct in his original posts for the exhaust. Keep in mind that as the guy who set up the purchase, but is not doing them in house, it's probably pretty frustrating AND embarrassing for John to have this happen, and given the lies, in his situation, it's just as likely that the BS you're getting from John (or were getting) was probably just BS passed on directly from the source of the exhausts...all he can do is ask them the status, and report their answer back to you...I hate to make excuses for other people not knowing their situations, but I've been down that road myself. I know that there were a couple times where the people who were supposed to do something for my customer threw the BS out so deep, that I was comletely embarrassed, and *gasp* even avoided phone calls on occasion. Keep in mind, Michael, he may have collected that deposit so he could give it to the builder...I understand the frustration at not hearing back from someone, but if he's busy, and his guy isn't giving him any new or good news, as much as it sucks, the reality is that he might just have to say "I have too many things to do that I CAN control" and put you on the back burner. Not the happy shiny answer, but also not as horrible as one Rennlister just up and making off with anothers' money either

I would like to add that the above post was not intended to put either a positive or negative spin on John's business, or to justify Sam being taken for $50, just to say that when you're at the mercy of a supplier, being a distributor can suck, and that the explanation may not be as horrible as it may seem when you're on the business end of a $600 (hopefully temporary) loss.
