It has almost been one year since my car was mauled by a piece of retread on the highway and it has only seen the light of day about 3 times since then. It's time that I get focused on the car again and get it back out on the road and I need a hood. My ultimate goal was for a cup car replica hood, however finding one or getting one made doesn't look too good at the moment unfortunately. So what are my options out there besides getting a factory hood? The only option that I can think of off hand would be an IFC unit, but I don't know too much about the quality of these hoods and feel like its a compromise to what I really wanted. Suggestions?

I had a thread once about the IFC hood. Overall I've been very happy with it. Only gripes have been that it rubs on the stock air box a little, and the heat cycles of track duty have caused it to warp a little bit (I believe I posted pictures of that).
But, for the price, it seems like a quality product.

Make your own fiberglass hood. I've made several for my cars. None for the 944, yet - but that day will come.
If you have a donor hood that you can borrow to make a mold from, it would be helpful. Or, if you can get a hood that isn't damaged - I assume the one you have is damaged - you can use the "outer skin" method that I use for making fiberglass parts.
Let me know if you want more details. I wrote a step-by-step article on how to do this. If you are interested in obtaining a copy - drop me your email address.![Cheers](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/beerchug.gif)

Oh BTW - stock hood weighed 39 lbs. FGH = 14 lbs.
