Really interesting questiion as its one of the most difficult things to get right! I have a picture of what I consider to be 'the' perfect 944 exhaust but no idea how to upload it here. Its been too long since I used this forum!

Really wish I could see it, my exhaust pipe broke while getting the car out of the towing the other day. I need some welding and new pipe install.
Only problem is that it's not the first 944 I have, and I never found the right
looking tip.

My round tip is probably 3.5 inches, never measured, and it wasn't my install. It sounds beastly. I wish it wasn't so low compared to the bumper, but that's just one of my complaints on early cars... Oh well, still a Porsche!

Another option is the Oval tip attached to SFR's polished Catback system. Don't know if it's "the best" but is certainly looks good to me.

Dirty B&B exhaust (2.5", not sure of tip size):

SFR 3" Bullet that's on the car currently...can't find any pics of it mounted:

This is a Summit SS tip on the SFR quiet flow. It's an inch smaller than Tim used, to look a bit less coffee-can-ish.
