Default only half of exterior lights working....

the two marker lights and the rear tail light are all out on the right side of my car. the brake light, and turn signal still work. and the liscense plate light on the LEFT side is also out.

a few days ago i tried to fix a flickering marker light (front right). i noticed that the bulb was loose, so i tried to bend the metal tab down so that its always touching the bulb, i heard something snap but couldnt find anything broken. when i was done that light completley stopped working

so i havnt driven the car in a few days due to another problem (non electrical). but tonight i noticed this problem. what could i have done to cause this?

On my old 84 N/A, replacing the headlight switch fixed an identical problem.

Take your fuse box top off, turn it over and you'll find all the fuses listed as well as relays and their locations. Find the fuses for the lights as there are a number of them. The fuse can look OK and still be bad. Oh, and replace the light you heard the crack sound when you crimped it. Clean all grounds.

Cheers,
Larry

The snapping sound may have been an electrical zap if you accidentally touched the positive and negative at once while the switch was turned on.

Check the fuses as mentioned above and you will probably find a blown one.

If you still have problems, try lightly sanding the connection to remove any corrosion and spray it down with some 'electrical contact cleaner' solution. This method seems to work well for me.

Youve got a fuse out. There is one fuse for the entire left side parking lights and another for the entire right side parking lights. Your license plate light out on the left side is a blown bulb. There is one fuse for both of those.

If the fuse blows again youve got something wrong in a bulb holder that is shorting out and blowing the fuse.

thanks for the replies.
my car is an '87 924S, so i dont have the fuse box under the hood with the diagram that says what fuse is for what.
would any one happen to know if the bulb holder for the marker lights is the same on the 944?

I would assume so, but you know what they say about assuming anything. Just take it out and look at it. If it is just a crack rough up the surface and you may be able to fix it with epoxy.
