Among other things, primarily in this case the bolt spacing for mounting the calipers.

Assuming the OP's '87 944 N/A, they are the same hubs. My '88S interchanged perfectly onto '88 Turbo spindles.

I have turbo brakes set up on my '86 NA and the 15" and 16" phonies clear them. Btw, my car is early offset.

Going with the pack

I was thinking they would clear - I put 15" phones on my turbo temporarily just to move it around the driveway one day. I don't think there was much clearance at all though. Not sure which 15" wheel will or won't clear though I'd probably plan on them not clearing, just in case.

I believe someone did succesfully fit 15" fuchs over the rears once. Fronts "might" fit but will be highly dependant on offsets (wheels and suspension).

That was by spacing them way out with spacers so that they stuck out. That didn't really qualify as "fitting" to me............I like things to fit and look right, and not stick out past the fender lips.........but that's just me I guess.

I had these on Frankencar and thought they were pretty good at the time, that was, until I upgraded to 951/968 brakes. The later are much better.

Are you saying the smaller front calipers of the 951/968s (36 + 40mm) are better than the 41mm calipers on the Wildwoods? I am curious, did you have 4 piston pots on the rear of the Frankencar? Or was it only big brakes on the front? I ask this because i have been testdriving 944Ts this year and have found my brakes (Willwoods/front, Brembos rear) to be as good as the brakes on the turbo cars I have driven.

i would think the turbo brakes on the vented turbo rotors would be better than a bigger caliper on a non vented rotor WITH rear brakes to match.

That may be so but I have vented AND crossdrilled rotors both front and back making the non vented rotors a moot point. The only problem I have is the brakes come on waaaaay fast. Real touchy!! They have to be properly set up and adjusted. That project is for next year because the car is parked for winter.
