Picked up my new 88 944 celebration edition
So, I drove all the way up to upstate NY from eastern PA. about 500 mile round trip to pick up my new 1988 Porsche 944 Celebration edition. It drove the whole way without any issue at all. I knew it would need alot of work to be up to par, but with the rarity of the car i went for it. The interior is crap and needs new carpets, seats (frnt/rear). The dash has cracks. The sunroof needs seals. The passenger side window doesnt work. The paint is starting to peel. I am so excited to have a 944 again, Its been close to ten years since i lost my baby... I am going to do a complete restore on this one (if i can source the rare as **** plaid interior fabric)... She has the following new parts.
New Clutch(951)
New shifter bushings and linkage back to trans axle
New Valves and seats
New Timing and balance shaft belts
New K&N Air Filter
New Coolant Temp Fan Switch
H4 headlight conversion with 130w High 100w low
New Goodyear assurance triple tread all season tires
CD/MP3 CD radio.
New windshield washer bottle and pump(drain cap on bottle/ reservoir has a crack in it and it needs a cap)
New light bulbs in all position marker lights and tail lights
Has the rear section of the Bursch exhaust set up installed
New horn!

LMAO...You got that right man. I asked the PO if he hauled dirt for a living. The trunk is almost black now. I am gonna rip the ENTIRE carpet out of the car and get new. Underneath, though ...the paint looks new....lol

These Celebration models- effectively standard cars brought up to a very high specification, featured black leatherette, the attractive grey or maroon "STUDIO" cloth and silver and grey carpeting. The new split rear seat backs were included, along with automatic heating control and removable electrically tilting sunroof. Wheels were the optional 7J front and 8J rear “telephone dials”, fitted with 205/55VR16 and 225/50VR16 tires respectively. Integral fog lamps were also fitted at the front. US models did not have the rear “944” logo found on the cars for other markets. They made only 500 Satin Black metallic and 500 Zermatt Silver. They fabric for the interior is almost impossible to source present day.

Give that car a nice buff and polish and it will look great!
Also try the Black Box by Turtle Wax. It did wonders on my Satin Black 951...
