Default dangit...what am i missing?

tested the speed/ref sensors. they're working. positioned it correctly...

is this grounding strap correct? from the center of the firewall "block" thing to the #4 cylinder intake mani bolt. is that ok?

i feel like i'm missing a sensor signal or ground or something.

When you say "tested" - how did you do that. I think an oscilloscope test is the only way to really see if the sensors are making a signal.

Of course the tach bounce shows that the speed sensor is seeing something.

Maybe your rotor has come loose on the camshaft?

Otherwise, it would be DME relay / DME related. (Possibly a coil, but I've never seen a bad 944 coil.)

To get spark: DME has to be on and working; the TDC sensor need to see the set screw in the flywheel; the DME will send a pulse to the coil, the coil sends the pulse to the distributor cap; then it goes to the rotor; and back to the cap; then through a wire; and to the plug.

i just tested resistance with a multimeter. arg i wouldn't think it'd fail on me in the course of swapping engine out. can a multimeter detect the pulse that's sent to coil? or only oscilloscope. any other diagnostic that i can do with a multimeter would be helpful info, van.

thanks.

omg i'm stupid. tested for spark at the coil. it sparks. so has to be at the dizzy. pop the cap off again. i'm so stupid for not realizing this when i first put the dizzy cap on.

there ain't no rotor on the camshaft! i guess PO took it off for parts or something.

Blame it on Gremlins, they snuck in and stole it... only reasonable explanation I can see...
