I need to add some power steering fluid, and I was wondering what type I should add. I have heard that ATF should actually be added. Is this true?

 

i used valvoline synthetic power steering fluid. you can use atf.

 

I use Dextron 3 ATF fluid. You may want to take of the oil fluid out and replace with new fluid.

 

If you have a small leak (seal going bad) its goin gto leak a lot more with the ps fluid rather than atf.

 

I use Dextron III ATF as well. I think the car takes about 2 bottle of the stuff total.

Do you have a leak? My pump was leaking last month and it was a lot of fun getting that fixed! /sarcasm

 

I have a pump seal kit on ebay if anyone needs it. I have 2 more I am going to hold onto for my cars but that ones for sale. Its still at $2 which is FAR LESS than what I paid.
