Default Where can I get the "Oil Pickup tube"?

Didn't see the part on Paragon or Pelican.

I am researching parts as I planning to have my p-car indy do the oil pan gasket and rod bearing and replace the pickup tube "while I am in there".

Any idea how much it is? Is there another name for it as I can't find it on those two websites?

Why are you replacing it? Is it cracked? The pickup tube has a seal for it that you could replace while you are in there. Lindsey also sells a weld in baffle kit for the pan that comes with a collar for the pickup.

Edit: In some of the older threads I saw a weld in brace that people were making to hold the pickup tube. You could try that if you have some fabricating skills and a MIG or TIG. I don't known why you would replace the pickup tube unless it was already cracked or somehow looked damaged.

I have been reading the archives and some had issues with the tube cracking. So better open the bottom once and do it right.

I found them on Lindsey Racing site:
944-107-032-06 - 3 1/2" diameter
944-107-032-07 - 3 1/8" diameter

So will my 87 944S use the 3 1/2" version?

The only place to get it is from the dealer. And IIRC there are no more in the USA, they have to come from Germany. I bought one last year because I was about to do what you're doing, but I just never got to it. Do you want to buy it? Brand new Genuine Porsche.

I think I was charged $80 plus shipping, I'm looking for the receipt, but just call sunset and see what they want. I'll sell it for $75 shipped.

FRporscheman, which of your 944/968s were you going to do it on? I am trying to figure out if i need the "06" or "07" part # version.

This tube was for the '84 944, which has the wider pick up tube, the 06 part number. I chose to replace it with the same kind of tube. The wide tube has worked for 25 years so I figured I'd avoid the complication of converting.

If you want to use the later tube which has the narrower mouth, you will also need a later oil pan, and maybe other things. I think the o-ring for the 06 and 07 tube is different too. Oh yeah, don't forget to buy a new o-ring! I think I had bought one for this tube... I'll try to find it.

Oh cool. How much are they there? Yes, I am that lazy.

Joe, whichever pickup your car uses, just get that one.

On Lindsey site, it says 944 and 944 turbo for wider version. And turboS, S2 and 968 for slimmer version. So I have no idea what my 87 actually uses.

Finally figure it out after reading the PET catalogue.

My 87 S uses the slimmer version "07" parts #. Now all I hope is that I can get this part readily w/o special order.

Oh ok gotcha. I failed to realize you have an S.

When I bought a new tube for my 968, it was like $45 from the Sunset Porsche and they had them in the USA somewhere. GL.
