Ahhhhhhhhhh,
Went to fix a simple problem of replacing the clock light bulb in my 951 and now have no interior lights, clock doesn't work, and rear hatch release stopped working as well.
No, I didn't disconnect the battery, I figured no big deal to change a light bulb!
Fuses all look fine ..... so any input at this point is appreciated. How on earth the lights, clock and HATCH RELEASE are related beats me! I'm pouring over circuit schematics now.

Good questions ... I just checked :
- Cig lighter is dead now. It did work previously
- Glove box light is out, but then it may be a dead bulb, I can't remember if it worked previously.
wierd thing is that the clock light DOES work, and it even comes on when the light switch is OFF. It gets dimmer when the lights are turned on. Seems odd to me.

DID, You go back through your installation of your clock bulb and see if you forgot to plug something in or possibly break a connection somewhere or even short something out?

If you pulled the glovebox out for access to replace the clock bulb, there's a 90% probability that you blew the interior light fuse. The terminals on the top of the glovebox for the glovebox light are unprotected, and short against the underside of the opening on the way out.
Check the fuse...
Jim, not speaking from my own experience, mind you... I only did it (twice) before I started pulling that fuse whenever the glovebox had to come out...

I can't remember if the clock light is on the same circuit as the glove box light now that I think of it...I thought it was...
Definetely double check the fuses...(pull them out...heck even replace it just for kicks...).
It sounds like something got messed up when you installed the clock light though...I'd pull the clock light out and have a look around...
good luck...I futzed around with the clock light alot..(I broke the circuit board that makes the connection for the light...so I wired it into the same circuit with the glove box light.)
good luck...

FIXED!!!! Summary.... fuse #11 was blown

That's right, the "clock, hatch release, lighter , interior light fuse" ... DOH!
Thank YOU for banging my head against the fuse box. I don't know how I missed it, but the fuse was shorted. I must have checked the wrong one yesterday (idiot ) On the plus side, I have a full set of wiring diagrams printed
P.S. I took the route of removing the faceplate, not the glovebox. Much easier to see what you're doing once all the bits are off, but I can see removing the glove box being a faster route.
TAKE NOTE .... twist the clock light out ... don't just PULL it!

(Now how do I get a simple fix for the underhood light which never comes on ... it would be nice)

Don't know if you already know this or not but the underhood light will only come on when the parking lights are on. Additionally, I've never seen one of those underhood lights that still didn't need a little jiggle before it would light. Even with the parking lights on. Maybe some dielectric grease would do the trick there...
