Ya well i can totally see where your coming from, while i liked Porsche Unleashed, the farther i got into it the more i realized how unpolished it was...and since then ive still liked some of the NFS's since PE but ive had my dislikes as well.
Now since its hasn't just been on here that Forza 2 has been praised so consistently, ive seen it everywhere else like people giving their comments to some of the NFS Shift Reviews, i guess i gotta get me a 360 and try it out followed my Forza 3 when it comes out. I have forza 1 ....lol, and i play that on my off time even.

Haha nice man, ya you will love it. I might have mentioned trying Rfactor or GTR2, Rfactor has a huge modding community, while GTR2 still has the support from the game developers and they recently (like a few months ago) released a expansion pack called Evolution i think. Ive been using money to drive a real car rather than on games, so otherwise id be able to give ya more details .

I have NFS: Shift and do enjoy the game play. What I do enjoy is that it plays like the GT games in which no cops or BS is incoporated in the game. The game is purely racing and has great grafics.

Well ingame obviously i have everything to full sim. No assists, Pro diff, i switch between medium and hard AI difficulty. I'm sure though your probably asking about my G25 wheel settings?
Here's my general setup: 360 degrees of rotation, it seems to work perfect for NFS because again, its not a full sim and i couldn't imagine using all 900 degrees.
I always put overall effects strength slightly above 100%, mine being at 108% because i love to feel the surface of the track.
Everything else, is 0%. Spring effect, damper effect, and centering spring box is checked but put at 0%. Basically, the majority of people do this with their G25 because the game already gives the wheel the necessary feedback input for these options. If effects strength is at 0 then that defeats the whole purpose of Force Feedback. Allow game to adjust settings box is checked.
Try that out and let me know what you think, i never even thought of changing the settings for NFS because these settings have worked so well for every other game that ive played.

Well I was talking about the sim settings not the wheel settings. I've been using no assists and full AI difficulty and with a standard PS3 controller I'm not sure it's possible, haha. A wheel is definitely necessary. I'm planning on getting that wheel soon so thank you for the settings.

I don't like it, but i'm an iRacer so i'm biased...
Yes, SOME members on the dev team are simbin alums, but it doesn't really feel like GTR/Legends, more like GTR2. They also had one guy who did the physics for Richard Burns Rally but it doesn't really feel like that game either.
It is definetly NOT a sim. It can be fun, but it depends on your expectations.
