most tow trucks i've seen have the arms that extend inward and are secured around the wheels and then lifted, not much pulling with a chain unless it's going on a flatbed.
most are using straps to hold/secure front back on the flatbed.
had you given the hotel the car info/license plate or just park it, me thinks the latter.

I crawled under my car today, and it looks fine.
I'm sure the whole process wasn't pleasant for the 944, but luckily the suspension on our cars is pretty tough.
If I make it back home 1200 miles with no problems, then this will just be a distant memory.
I got hit twice in SoCal when I was there, lost the water pump in Utah, and now got towed in Montana. Just more to add to list of traveling blunders. Hopefully I won't have to travel for work to much longer.
