Post Largest width tires on 16" fuchs?

Sorry guys tried the search engine but to no avail. The stock tire size for my car is 205/55 front and 225/50 rear. I'm running the OE 16" fuchs (I think the stock setup is 7" wide in front, 8" in rear?).

I'd like to step up to maybe 225/50 in front and 245/45 in the rear. I know this will give a slightly shorter sidewall in the rear (2.5mm to be exact), hopefully not enough to notice though. Has anyone used this setup and can comment or anyone have any other recommendations for a little more meat on these rims?

Thanks.

I've run that combination on my 86 with 7 and 8" fukes. Some cars might not be as 'square' as others, but usually works fine.

Here's that combination on my 86..

I currently have 225/45 and 245/40 and have no problems. According to police laser my speedo seems to be accurate + or - 1mph. State troopers coast to coast and they all commute to work from Ohio.

Great thanks for the replies. Not only am I after more grip but I like the look of the slightly bulging sidewalls. Protects the rims from curb rash too!

There's a guy at the local autox's with 9" fuchs on the back of his car...and 8's on the front.

(yup, 16" wheel)

He fits 265/40 and 245/something (i assume 45)...

What manufacturer makes a 265/40-16 tire? Adrial that size would be wicked on your clubsports...but then again I'm guessing it's a Hoosier and those get expensive, fast.
