Post Help ! Do I need to bleed my clutch?

Just replaceing my new SS brake lines and installing some new GTS slotted rotors. Got a new Motive pressurized brake bleeder as well. The car has been sitting without calipers for about 5 weeks. After installing the brakes, will I need to bleed my clutch as well? If so, where is the clutch bleed valve on my car. Remember I have a 968 motor and gearbox.

Thanks for the help!

Kelly,

You should not have to bleed the clutch after brake work.

Not sure about the 968 setup but on a 951 the bleed point is on the slave cylinder, which is by the starter.

The Motive bleeder is the best thing since sliced bread.

I must say you have one kick *** car.

Kelly, if the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir got below the clutch suction line, you may have picked up some air; it may pop back out when you refill the reservoir.

If the clutch pedal feels soft, or stays on the floor, yuo'll need to bleed. As mentioned, it's on the back of the slave cylinder, above the starter. Looks like a brake bleeder fitting.

And yes, the Motive Power Bleeder is a _great_ tool, especially for those of us who don't always have a spare set of feet available to help out.

Jim, another happy customer.... <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

Thanks guys for your help. Hopefully I won't need to bleed the clutch but I probebly should as the fluid has been in that line for quite some time.

I have GOT to take some pics of my car and post them. Everyone keeps asking me the same questions! The car has been on jacks for the last 6 weeks so I was waiting to get the brakes on and the new header panel before I started taking photos. Hope to have some soon.
