OT:Man, is it snowy.....
As I sit here all alone in my office, I was just thinking about all of the snow! Man, did we get dumped on. The Jeep really proved it's worth today, I am the ONLY one who made it in . Ah, well, I may just have to leave early and head to the slopes.(Although I should probably go home first and dig out my GF's Audi--AWD isn't too effective when the snow is up to the bumpers!)Gotta love winter.

Let me get this straight-You got over a foot of snow----It is by all reports light powder and not the normal slushy cement that we get on the east coast---you ski----you have a Jeep----AND YOU WENT TO WORK??????????????????????????????
Go get your GF and hit the slopes-shovel her car out later-FRESH POWDER=FORGET WORK
And take a run for me-we need some of that stuff.

Maineiac,
I know--pretty stupid-eh? Unfortunately, I have a deep vested interest in the success of this company, so I am here answering phones, faxing documents, and chugging coffee. The funniest part is, due to this storm all of our projects in PA, NY, NJ, and OH are shut down, but the ones furhter South(TX, MS, and AL) are not. Guess where my projects are located?? You don't realize how tough this is being an ex-ski bum/instructor (Montana, Idaho, New York, PA). Why aren't you up at Sunday River?? I skied up there a couple times when my brother lived in Mexico, ME. Great long runs, great bumps. I have to quit typing now or I will leave--Snow emergency or not.

I tried a couple times and promptly sold my skis after moving east. I'm also an ex-ski bum/ski patrol from MT (Big Sky and Bridger Bowl), WY (Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee). Now I just fly out to MT, stay in my parents ski lodge and hit the local hill... a little more expensive, but actually worth the effort (unlike anything I've experienced out east yet).
So, work - the skiing can't be that good. OTOH - even bad skiing is better than good work.

Eric,
I feel your pain. Actually I have a very vested interest in my company too-but my high school aged son is a ski instructor on weekends and vacation weeks. My daughter is with friends who have a condo at Sugarloaf so at least the kids are enjoying the slopes. Someone has to support their habits. We're supposed to get 6-7" tonight and tomorrow so I might go skiing tomorrow night at our local hill.
I hope you can get out early and hit the hills.

I think I've had enough snow for one winter, ~16" so far and still coming down like crazy. Projects or not, I'm not even gonna TRY to move the F-350 without a damn good reason.

A fellow snow junkie! I used to work at Lookout Pass which is located on the Idaho/Montana border--the state line actually bisects the lodge(we had 2 New Years' Eve clebrations central and western time zones). Did a ton of skiing at Silver Mountain(we lived in Kellogg--the gondola went right over our house!) I skied at Big Mountain in Montana--beautiful.
Actually I did some CO skiing at Copper, Breck., Aspen, and Snowmass(Aspen and Snowmass were freakin' awesome)
I don't mind skiing the East Coast stuff--having grown up skiing bare spots, boilerplate, "packed granulated"--fancy way of saying man-made junk, and other less-than ideal conditions, skiing the West was unreal. When I moved back east, I worked at Holiday Valley in NY and Seven Springs in PA. Took some re-adjustment, but as you said OTOH - even bad skiing is better than good work. Just find peace in knowing some of your water pumper cousins are enjoying good weather. I gave you guys a fun jest last winter, and the Porsche powers that be struck me down with a blown rubber center on my clutch. Your time will come again, and the first spring run will be worth the wait...
