Oh holy hell man, that looks like so much fun! Lame that you have to race quietly, I don't think sports cars are meant to tip toe...

oh wow

I guess that would make me think twice too

you could always DD the car ... maybe?

Wow Chad that car seems like it's well set up!

I don't understand the whole quiet hours thing either. I just signed up for a DE and was told there was no runs between certain hours on Sunday for that same reason. So I don't think it's only Georgia, it's also South Carolina.

That's not a Georgia law, now, is it? I'm almost positive its a local thing. I don't believe Roebling has anything like that going. If I recall correctly, RA has undergone a lot of pressure to expand quiet hours as a result of the sprawl, but is well supported by the local government, who has repeated turned away people - Road Atlanta has been here a LOT longer than you!. I believe the church has been there forever.

Having said that, they are pretty strict at RA during those hours. I've been shocked at some of the cars they've pulled off track.

The worst I've seen, though, is at Waterford in Michigan. Have to run full, muffled exhuast, and there is a dB meter running the full time. most folks have to turn their exhaust outlets inward to alleviate the problem.

So how the heck does one race a car quietly? I'm being serious here, what, maybe shift early and never race the tac? Seems to me that isn't racing, that's just driving. Quiet time or not, I'd love to see more videos!

I'm glad you at least got to pass that guy before you got called in. I was getting annoyed just watching the video that you had to slow down for him in the twisties.

No...local ordinance. Still crappy though. There are a lot of tracks out there with these rules in place. Even Roebling.

Noise, at a race track, go figure...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...022400003.html

this caused quite a stink when it was originally announced, at the bottom of the story is a resident report, from a guy who "is physically bothered" by the noise of the track he moved 1/4 mile away from in 93... track has been there since 1952...

kinda sad... but a sign of the times...

i was flagging at a scca weekend in pueblo last year. during the trials they had a db meter in the middle of the straight.

i was at turn one and would see cars gunning it, then ease off for a second and then gun it again - in the middle of the straight as they passed the db meter. got a few calls to black flag some of the cars that tipped the meter.

lime rock has a no racing on sunday policy. that's why there is a car show this sunday smack in teh middle of the vintage race weekend.
