Question HELP! Bolt-on 951 rear fender flares?

Just read Mike944's thread on making fiberglass flares. Don't want to go to all that trouble.

I am upgrading to 315's on my rear tires but need wider fenders. I don't want to completly replace the rear fenders as it is a major PITA.

Does anyone know of a manufacture who makes bolt-on fiberglass flares for a 951? AIR has them for a 968 but you have to buy rockers to make them work on the 951. Nothing on the GT-Racing site either.

I've heard that 315's fit if you have exactly the right offset...
Maybe custom wheels would be cheaper than fenders...especially if you count selling your old wheels....

Just a thought

I don't think anybody makes bolt on flares persay...but I know there's a few people that make wide body kits. I thought GT-racing was one of them but I guess not...

I am also interested in this. The labor it takes to put the fiberglass fenders on is enormous.

kelly, just put the GT-Racing wide rear quarters on and leave the factory ones intact..

Use flushmount quick fasteners to attach them ON the metal originals and cut away any metal that's causing interference, that's what I'm doing and the way I've seen them done on multiple other cars...

Here's a pic,

BTW, the owner of this car, Byron, relocated the mounting points to "spread" the rear valance to accomodate the wider panels and keep the factory look.

This car is scary fast, and on my local track-

Byron is the only 951 or car for that matter that remained on the same lap as two Kelly-Moss 911's during a 30 minute timed event...
It's pretty damned impressive in person and runs an ancient first generation stand alone management which name escapes me at present.
This car is the standard to which I am shooting far with my project....

Great idea. I never thought about overlaying the two fenders. Any idea how much original metal fender had to be cut out? Also, I have never used "clieco" style fasteners before. Are they difficult to install? How about pop-rivits?

clieco's are temporary fasteners. You would still need to rivet or otherwise attach permanently the fenders. Also not that he was cutting away the stock fender the portion that was interferring.

Glen Uslan has also fitted some GT-2 fender flares to his 944NA if anyone has pictures. Looks a lot like the yellow 968-Turbo (Gary Stone?) that was in Excellence a few years back.

I was going to e-mail Glen this week but his e-mail address was no longer on the POC website. Glen's car is very well set up (he's got a new red and white paint scheme this year) and the rear flares would be perfect on my car. Anyone have his e-mail address?
